About Shiba Support
We believe nobody should lose access to their doctor, their benefits, their job, or their family because a device stopped cooperating and there was no one patient enough to help.
Our mission
Shiba Support gives free, patient, judgment-free tech help to people who can’t afford it or can’t easily get it. We serve the whole United States, remotely, by email, text, phone, and video.
Why we exist
Almost everything important now happens through a screen: seeing a doctor, applying for benefits, finding a job, talking to your grandkids. When the screen stops working, the people with the least money and the fewest options are the first to get cut off. Paid support is expensive. Free support often means a long line, a confusing chatbot, or a relative who sighs.
We wanted to build the help we’d want for our own parents: a real person who goes slow, explains every step, and never makes you feel dumb for asking.
How we work
- Free, always. No fees, no upsells, no “premium” tier.
- Remote first. We help from anywhere in the country, on whatever device you have.
- Safety first. We never ask for passwords, PINs, or Social Security numbers. Every volunteer is identity checked.
- Plain language. If we have to use a technical word, we explain it in the same sentence.
- Nobody turned away. We prioritize the people who need us most, and we help everyone who asks.
Meet Mochi
Mochi is our shiba inu mascot. Shibas are loyal, a little stubborn, and famously calm. That’s the energy we bring to a stuck password. The headset is because Mochi is always on call.
Who runs this
Shiba Support was started in 2026 by a small group of volunteers with backgrounds in software, support, and community work. We’re forming a board and filing for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Once it’s granted, we’ll publish our EIN, board members, and annual financials on this page.
Where we’re headed
- Help in Spanish and other languages, reviewed by native speakers
- Small-group online classes: smartphone basics, email, video calls, spotting scams
- Partnerships with libraries, senior centers, and clinics that can refer people to us
- A refurbished-device program, once we can do it safely
